Everyone has come together to support the Black Lives Matter movement and are standing behind black lives who have been discriminated against and continue to become a target for police brutality. There is a change that we need to see in the world and by continuing to speak out, history will be made.
People all across the United States, quite literally, are coming together to support the Black Lives Matter movement after the inhumane death of George Floyd in the hands of four Minnesota police officers. Police officers held George Floyd down while one officer, Derek Chauvin, pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes, while he pled, “Please, I can’t breathe”, which ultimately resulted in Floyd’s untimely death. Ever since video surfaced of this event, officers have been let go from their positions and all officers have been charged with his murder.
While you may never experience the injustice that the black community faces or the fear that they may have, you can do your part by speaking up and supporting them. Make sure you educate yourself and go out there and vote for the politicians that have the same values and policies that you want. Another way that you can be an ally to the black community is to support black-owned businesses.
