Shot and produced in only 3 days by LiveRichMedia, Nikita showed that trans women are more than capable of selling the “fantasy”. Victoria’s Secret Transphobic Comment “Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should,” he says. “Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us. And they carp at us because we’re the leader.” – Ed Razek for Vogue. Ed Razek has since apologized for his discriminatory comment on the Victoria’s Secret Twitter page. Please read this important message from Ed Razek, Chief Marketing Officer, L Brands (parent company of Victoria’s Secret). pic.twitter.com/CW8BztmOaM — Victoria’s Secret (@VictoriasSecret) November 10, 2018 “My remark regarding the inclusion of transgender models in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show came across as insensitive. I apologize. To be clear, we absolutely would cast a trasgender model for the show. We’ve had transgender models come to castings…And like many others, they didn’t make it…But it was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are.” However, Nikita is not here for it. Draguns around the globe are raving about her video, even suggesting for her to start her own lingerie line. And Ms. Dragun herself is in tears from all the positive feedback and encouraging words from supporters of her movement. screenshot from Nikita Dragun’s Instagram story On the other hand, ratings for the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show has plummeted to its worst ratings in history. Sales continue to drop and it’s questionable if it can be saved going forward. With the backlash from the LGBTQ+ community, it goes to show that the lack of inclusivity and acceptance is not in fashion.
