8 Things to Do While You’re Quarantined

It’s Day 95 at home during quarantine/social isolation. You’ve run out of snacks, your group chat is dry, and the future of your job/business is completely uncertain. Not to mention, you’re stuck at home with your family and are down to your very last nerve.

Coronavirus essentially came out of nowhere and completely changed the landscape of the entire year for us all. This isn’t a likely situation for anyone, however, it’s necessary to stop the spread of the virus. We empathize with what you’re going through so here’s a guide of 9 things to do while you’re stuck at home. Enjoy!

1. Spring Cleaning

Spring is currently in full bloom but you might not have noticed based on the circumstances. It’s time to get rid of all that junk from the past year, or 3, or 10. You can also kill 2 birds with one stone by sanitizing your home from germs and infections. Decluttering can also help you clear your mind which is crucial for those who are working from home during this time.

2. Binge Watching New Shows/Movies

We all get caught up in our daily lives, but now you have some extra time to revisit that “Watch Later” playlist on your Netflix, Hulu, or Youtube. Here are a few suggestions to start: House Of Cards, Shameless, Master of None, Snowfall, Atlanta, Power.

3. Start that project you’ve been procrastinating on

You know you’re been procrastinating over starting that book, podcast, or video series for months. What about that DIY project you said you would complete? Now is the time to make the idle time worth something. It may be hard to get motivated, but try to gain inspiration by looking at/listening to other books, podcasts, etc in that category. You will be so proud of yourself that you even got started.

4. Helping Kids With School Work

If you have children and are simultaneously working from home/at home this could either be the best of times or the worst of times. This could also be a great time to connect with your children in ways that you haven’t been able to before. Most schools are shut down and are being held online. Find some time to help them with their school work, you may learn something and I’m sure they will cherish the bonding time.

5. Reading good books

One thing that I definitely need to do more of is reading, which is pretty sad because I consider myself a writer. It’s so easy these days to read a book without actually reading it. You have audiobooks that allow you to listen to a book without actually reading it yourself. Find some time to catch up on good reads or those books that have been collecting dust in your home. If you have any suggestions let us know!

6. Catching Up On Rest/Meditation

It’s almost an unwritten code that adults do not get enough sleep, EVER. I know that I don’t. While we all have been forced by the universe to slow down, this could be a great time to catch up on rest, not to mention meditation. Meditation has so many awesome health benefits such as helping to relieve stress, anxiety, and create mindfulness within you. This is crucial for anyone going through a crisis. If you’re new to meditation, try Youtube for resources on how to start.

7. Checking In With Family/Friends

This is a more simple and obvious time spender, but probably the one that matters most. In our daily lives it’s easy to lose touch with people and get caught up in our own stuff. If you have idle time, try checking in with a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to or seen in a while. This is a hard time for everyone and simply checking on someone can change their whole outlook on things. You never know what someone may be going through.

8. Get a remote/part-time job

We know the economy is in shambles right now and there are so many people uncertain of their job status at least for the next couple weeks/months. If possible, look into some kind of work from home opportunity. One of my favorites is Work At Home Job Queen, when I was job searching in the past she always presented legit opportunities. If you can make some extra money while sitting at home, take advantage of it.

We hope that these tips help you stay safe and sane while we’re all quarantined and distancing ourselves physically (and emotionally, in some cases).
