HomeNewsUsers Log Off Tumblr and Logs Into Twitter To Protest NSFW Content Ban News Users Log Off Tumblr and Logs Into Twitter To Protest NSFW Content Ban Tumblr officially launched their ban on adult content on Monday, December 17. That means anything with “real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples” will no longer be allowed on the site. In preparation for the ban, Tumblr released a blog post in an effort to explain their reasoning behind the movement. “Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr,” says Tumblr CEO Jeff D’Onofrio. “We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change.” So although you may “speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey”, you may not post photographs, illustrations, videos, and GIFs related to adult content. The millions of users on Tumblr are not responding well to the ban. They have moved to Twitter to express how they really feel. When female presenting nipples are more insulting to you than hate crimes and nazi’s, you got a serious freaking problem. #logofftumblr #tumblr #tumblrprotest #showmethenipples — Mara Giggles (@gigglebelly92) December 16, 2018 Let’s be real. Without porn @tumblr is gonna crash and burn. That’s at least half their user base. However I honestly will enjoy seeing Tumblr go. Tumblr created the modern #SJW plague or at very least spread it. For this they deserve nothing short of oblivion’s embrace. #Tumblr — David (The Gay Republican) (@GayRepublicSwag) December 5, 2018 With this response from Tumblr users, we can only wait and see what will happen after the backlash.
